Flight Simulator s third World Update is now live, brings updates to the UK and Ireland
Microsoft has released the third World Update for
Flight Simulator aimed at enhancing visuals for the scenery and airports in the UK and Ireland. The update has been promised since last month and comes almost three months after the previous update was released. The update also brings with it a few new activities, a bunch of points of interest, and a whole load of bug fixes to various aspects of the simulator.
As is the case with these major world updates, the focus is on enhancing the visuals of the scenery, airports, and other areas in the region that the update focuses on. This time around, the focus on UK and Ireland brings high-resolution 3D photogrammetry to Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, London, and Oxford. There are also five “hand-crafted” airports that include Barra, Liverpool, Land’s End, Manchester-Barton, and Out Skerries. Additionally, the company says that it

Apple’s next-gen Face ID tech
Apple is working on a next-gen Face ID camera using a new indirect time of flight (iTOF) system that may be able to identify a user at a far greater distance from the camera, according to a report by
Patently Apple. The present Face ID system used in Apple devices requires a user to hold the device fairly close to their face, for it to recognise and unlock the device. The new system, as revealed in a patent application, uses pulse modulation, which will be able to improve depth accuracy at short, mid and long-range distances even in challenging ambient light conditions, the report noted. The next-gen Face ID camera could be useful on iMacs, MacBooks and other Apple devices, as well as for augmented and virtual reality applications, it added. In another
