Mount Katahdin was the inspiration for a painting by Ammi Bai Chung. The painting is a part of the Maine Art Gallery’s members’ show.
The Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset will soon open an exhibit by members, marking the gallery’s first opening in over a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A birdhouse decorated by Daisy Greene will be available to bid on during a silent auction at Maine Art Gallery on May 15.
An outdoor, opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 15, beginning at 4 p.m. Maine Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines will be in place, including the requirement of masks for all visitors unless eating, the use of hand sanitizer, and 6 feet of distance.

FEMA mobile clinic coming back to Oxford, Windham for second round of shots

OXFORD The dates are not yet confirmed, but the Federal Emergency Management Agency mobile COVID-19 clinic will return to Oxford and Windham within the next two weeks to provide second shots to those who received their first shots at the mobile clinic last month, FEMA spokesman Patrick Boland said Monday.
When the mobile clinic was launched at the Oxford Casino on April 13, the plan was to use the one-and-done Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Unlike Moderna and Pfizer, the J&J shot does not require a second booster.

BOSTON (AP) After an initial surge in vaccinations against COVID-19, the number of people receiving the shots in Massachusetts has been declining for nine days.
The Boston Globe reports the state’s day for peak inoculations came April 22, three days after all adults became eligible for the shots on April 19.
“We’re definitely seeing a decline in the past week or so,” said Dr. Alastair Bell, of Boston Medical Center, where the number of first doses at its South End hospital and five satellite sites in Boston neighborhoods dipped to about 800 a day last week from about 1,500 the previous week.
