Elizabeth Bailey Remains Hospitalized After Tragic Accident

A tragic accident occurred at approximately 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, in which Los Alamos resident Elizabeth Bailey was severely injured and her fiancé Cody Muchmore lost his life.
The couple were finishing up moving in together and meeting with a realtor. While traveling southbound on US 550 at mile marker 22, just south of San Ysidro, a red Kia heading north crossed the yellow line and impacted Cody’s and Elizabeth’s vehicle head-on. Cody died at the scene just three days before his 28th birthday.
Elizabeth, 27, continues to recover from her severe injuries and has required an extended hospitalization. Her father Nathan Bailey told the Los Alamos Daily Post that Elizabeth grew up in Los Alamos. And although the visit by representatives of the U.S. Air Force and Space Force is unfortunately limited to a virtual tour due to the pandemic, the visit has the potential of changing the landscape of the Duke City and New Mexico for the better for a hundred years or more.
Albuquerque is on the short list of six cities being considered to permanently host the new headquarters for U.S. Space Command. And the stakes are high.
The new Space Command is expected to bring more than a thousand civilian and military jobs to the selected city, with potentially billions of dollars of economic activity for the region and untold private-sector contracts. Space Command is now temporarily at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. Colleges announce Shared Services Enterprise Resource Planning Collaborative and Request for Proposals
Five public New Mexico colleges including Northern New Mexico College on Friday announced a ground-breaking partnership that will fundamentally change the higher education student experience.
Northern New Mexico College, Clovis Community College, Central New Mexico Community College, San Juan College, and Santa Fe Community College have come together to develop a single, shared system of student, continuing education, workforce, financial, and human resources services. The first of its kind in the nation, this project will transform the student experience. It has received endorsement from New Mexico Independent Colleges, the New Mexico Higher Education Department and institutional leaders. Their leadership will serve as a model for other higher education initiatives.
