BUDGET: No new taxes; No rise in State sales taxes on petrol, diesel March 8, 2021 Bengaluru: Faced with a mammoth financial challenge, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, who holds the Finance portfolio, presented the Karnataka Budget for the 2021-22 fiscal this morning at the Legislative Assembly.  His Budget speech Karnataka Vikasa Patra 2021 began at 12.05 pm. Yediyurappa presented the eighth Budget in his political career and the third during his present term as the Chief Minister since July 2019. Before presenting the Budget, Yediyurappa visited Sri Raghavendraswamy Mutt at Seshadripuram and offered pujas. As soon as the CM rose to present the Budget, Congress, under the leadership of former CM Siddharamaiah, disrupted the proceedings and staged a walkout and claimed that the Government had no “moral right” to present the Budget.

City s economy likely to suffer 5 6% hit due to COVID-19: L-G

‘Delhi, Centre worked in tandem to safeguard people’s lives’ The city’s economy is expected to suffer a contraction of 5.6% in its Gross State Domestic Product due to the impact of COVID-19, Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal said during his inaugural address for the Delhi Legislative Assembly’s budget session here on Monday. ‘Biggest challenge’ It was an unprecedented year due to the impact of the virus on all sectors, he said, adding that COVID-19 was the biggest challenge faced by the people of Delhi, which both the State government and the Centre had to collaborate to face. “My government, together with the Central government, garnered all resources to ensure preventive and curative actions to safeguard the life of citizens of Delhi,” he said.
