Meanwhile, Iran said it will recruit 50,000 volunteers for the clinical trials of a COVID-19 vaccine it has co-produced with Cuban. Turkey s total number of COVID-19 cases surged to 2,208,652, while its death toll rose by 239 to 20,881. The tally of recoveries in Turkey increased by 22,021 to 2,100,650. Iran recorded 6,390 new COVID-19 infections, taking the total number to 1,225,143 in the country, said Sima Sadat Lari, the spokeswoman for Iran s Ministry of Health and Medical Education. She said 128 deaths related to COVID-19 were registered between Wednesday and Thursday, raising the nationwide death toll to 55,223, while the tally of recoveries climbed to 988,838 in Iran.
