Award-Winning 61 MWdc Turquoise Solar Project in Nevada Reaches Commercial Operation

/EIN News/ Las Vegas, March 17, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) New solar facility provides clean energy to Apple’s Nevada data center, located in the Reno Technology Park McCarthy Building Companies’ Renewable Energy & Storage group recently completed construction of the Turquoise Solar Project in Washoe County, Nevada. The new 61 MWdc solar farm is located on approximately 180 acres in the Reno Technology Park a 2,200-acre master planned industrial park shared between Apple and Turquoise Solar, who own approximately 1,600 and 600 acres, respectively. Within the Park, the Turquoise Solar Project is owned by Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company (“GREC”), a utility-scale renewable energy development company. Projects will provide 500 or more jobs and electricity for North and Central Texas Daily Light report McCarthy Building Companies has been selected by Lightsource bp as the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for two utility-scale solar farms in Ellis and Navarro counties. McCarthy is responsible for the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the facilities: the 163-megawatt Elm Branch Solar Farm located in Ennis and the 153-megawatt Briar Creek Solar Farm located in Corsicana. Construction of the two projects recently began and is slated to be complete in September, with commercial operations of both solar farms expected by late 2021. The energy produced will offset greenhouse gas emissions by a total of 370,000 metric tons of CO2 annually.

Tue February 09, 2021 - West Edition #4 Energy Global Clearway Energy Group has announced that it has completed construction and reached commercial operations on the 192 MW Rosamond Central solar project in Kern County. Rosamond Central is contracted under power purchase agreements with East Bay Community Energy and Clean Power Alliance Community Choice Aggregators providing a range of power options to regional customers and the city of Palo Alto Utilities, which has administered Palo Alto s electric power system for 120 years. Construction of Rosamond Central began in February 2020 and was led by McCarthy Building Companies. More than 600 jobs were created during construction and the site will sustain several permanent operations and maintenance jobs. The solar site also represents a $5 million investment in Kern County through tax revenue to support public services in the area, and will generate enough clean energy to power more than 71,000 homes each year.
