Andrea Miller
With sun shining through beautiful sparkling snowflakes outside the window, Andrea Westing Lisle Miller, 71, passed away at the McClure Miller Respite House on February 9, 2021. There was so much love with her daughter holding her hand, stroking her hair, and Joan Baez on the speaker. Though a fast and furious cancer diagnosis just four short weeks earlier overwhelmed her suffering body, it did not dim her warm and loving spirit in those last days.
Andrea was born in New Orleans, La., to Mildred (“Midge”) Somers Westing. Shortly thereafter, Midge packed her wee infant daughter into a Model T Ford and, after a brief time in Texas where Midge babysat A.J. Foyt (yes, that A.J. Foyt!) to make money, she drove up the East Coast looking for a place to build a life for the two of them. She landed in the quaint village of Townshend, Vt. Charlotte Ely MacLeay passed away peacefully at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vt., on April 25, 2021, after a difficult battle with a rapidly progressing dementia. She was a caring and community-minded nurse and educator who deeply loved her family, greatly enjoyed meeting new people, and greeted everyone with a warm and engaging smile.
Born on October 8, 1949, to Robert H. and Loree C. Ely in Brownsville (West Windsor), Vt., Charlotte grew up skiing on Mount Ascutney, where her father designed and cut the trails and was the first to make snow in Vermont. Her love of skiing endured throughout her life, including this past season; she took special pleasure in skiing with her four grandchildren.

FERRISBURGH Ruth Alice (Corey) Jerger, “Mom,” “Ruthie,” “Grammy Ru,” passed away Tuesday evening, Feb. 2, 2021, at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester after bravely and fearlessly battling ovarian cancer for several months.
Ruth was born June 11, 1935, in Fairfax, Vt., to Ethel (MacGowan) and Percy Corey. Ruth spent her childhood working on the family farm in Fairfield and attending school in the area. She graduated high school from Brigham Academy.
After graduation Ruth worked for 13 years at New England Telephone and Telegraph in St. Albans at the switchboard. At the time it was the old-time switchboard with the holes and wires.
