Two injured, driver charged after utility vehicle flips in McHenry

A utility terrain vehicle crash Friday in McHenry sent two to the hospital, police said Monday.
McHenry police and the McHenry Township Fire Protection District were called shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday to the 4500 block of Lakewood Road about a single-vehicle crash involving a UTV, according to police.
Officers arrived to find the driver of a UTV had lost control and flipped the vehicle, which had five occupants.
Two of the passengers were hospitalized, police said. One was taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. The second injured passenger initially was taken to the same hospital but later flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious, but not life threatening injuries.

The former Just For Fun Roller Rink in McHenry is a total loss and has collapsed after a fire the McHenry Township Fire Protection District described in a news release Friday morning as suspicious and . under investigation.
Former business owner Lisa Duncan said she is heartbroken and had plans with a local investor to take back the building, restore it and reopen it for skaters in January.

An abandoned roller rink in suburban McHenry caught fire late Thursday evening, causing the once popular establishment to collapse as high winds fueled flames, fire officials said.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded to the scene just before 10:30 p.m. at 914 N. Front St. after being alerted to a building on fire. Township Fire Protection District responds to 3 snowmobile accidents in one afternoon

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded to three snowmobile accidents in the span of three hours Saturday afternoon, fire officials said. Only one of them led to a person being injured.
Two of the calls were for snowmobiles through the ice on the Fox River, and the other one was a snowmobile rollover accident, Battalion Chief Dave Harwood said.
The first accident occurred about 1:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of River Terrace Drive in Johnsburg, Harwood said. Fire crews were called there for two occupants on one snowmobile who had gone through the ice.
