FIGURES in the screen industry are being urged to look out for York’s rising stars who have ‘gone above and beyond’ to hone their skills during the pandemic. Aspiring make-up artists for film and television, studying at York College, have reacted and adapted with resilience to the challenges faced from learning at home. The latest cohort is definitely one to watch, said Sharon Barrington, lead for the BA (Hons) course in media make-up, special effects and hair design for film and TV. Yorkshire colleges initiative to help television and film industry

by Stephen Chapman Screen Yorkshire has launched a new group to help young people break into the television and film sector. The Connected Campus for Colleges partnership will enable students to access a number of boot camps and special events related to the industry. “Connected Campus  is far more than just a network that shares good practice,” said Glyn Middleton, Head of Skills at Screen Yorkshire. “The programme is encouraged and supported by broadcasters in the region, keen to harness the local talent in the region s colleges. The programme of learning is designed to adapt to the rapidly fluctuating developments in the screen industries, such as skills gaps that emerge as a result of new technologies, or an increase in production activity as a result of new companies or broadcasters migrating to the region.’’
