AT&T Sued For Allegedly Stealing Patented Twinning Technology
DALLAS (dpa-AFX) - AT&T Inc. has been sued by Network Apps LLC for allegedly stealing patented twinning technology.
The Seattle-based apps developer filed a complaint in New York Southern District Court against the telecommunications giant for breach-of-contract and patent infringement claims.
Reuters reported that Network Apps seeks $1.35 billion in damages, including royalties.
Network Apps twinning technology allows smart devices including watches and tablets to respond to calls placed to a single phone number.
The suit is against AT&T s NumberSync that lets consumers sync wireless number with compatible mobile devices.

The court announced the date of the first hearing
New York Southern District Court announced the date of the first hearings on the SEC vs. Ripple case. It will take place on February 22 in the form of a telephone call.
The parties were instructed to provide a joint letter before February 15. The letter should include a brief description of the case, including the legal basis for the claims and defenses, contemplated motions, and settlement prospect.
According to Ripple, groundless SEC’s charges inflicts losses for the innocent cryptocurrency users. The company prepares to fight in court.

The New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) has given Japanese tech giant GMO Internet the green light to issue two stablecoins a dollar-pegged coin (ZUSD) and a yen-pegged coin (GYEN).
GYEN is the first non-USD stablecoin approved by the NYDFS. Both GYEN and ZUSD will be issued by GMO-Z.com Trust Company, a limited liability trust company that has been granted a charter by the NYDFS.
GMO said to win approval for the trust, it had to meet stringent requirements for cybersecurity programs, as well as federal standards for anti-money laundering and economic sanctions. The stablecoins are expected to launch next month and will be powered by Ethereum.
