NEW YORK, May 14 (Xinhua) New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday announced that the city will tap into its stockpile to send COVID-19 test kits, swabs, ventilators, BiPap machines, pulse oximeters, and other medical supplies to India.
Still, de Blasio didn t disclose the quantity and schedule about the transnational aid. Now, it is our turn to step up and help India in its moment of crisis. We are sending vital medical equipment to India to send a clear message: nobody is in the fight against COVID-19 alone. Together, we can save lives and beat back the pandemic, said de Blasio.

New York state s mask mandate will remain in effect as state health officials review new federal guidance to allow vaccinated people to ditch face coverings under most conditions, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said late Thursday.
The statement came shortly after the CDC on Thursday recommended fully vaccinated Americans can discard masks and the need for social distancing outdoors and in most indoors settings. In New York, we have always relied on the facts and the science to guide us throughout the worst of this pandemic and in our successful reopening, Cuomo said in a statement.
