New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio last week announced that the Big Apple will fully reopen by July 1, but Governor Andrew Cuomo on Monday went more than a month better, setting the date as May 19 for the city and the rest of the state to end virtually all capacity restrictions put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Monday that capacity restrictions in New York City will be lifted on May 19, which will include Broadway theaters. Restaurants, museums, movie theaters, retail stores and more will also be having their capacity restrictions lifted in New York City on May 19.
Though Broadway will be allowed to reopen on May 19, it doesn’t mean shows will be taking place right away. Cuomo said:
“Broadway for example has a schedule. They have to produce a play before they can sell the play, so there is a schedule for them. But from a capacity point of view, they can all reopen on May 19.”
EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Michael Waltz on Tuesday wrote to the offices of Personnel Management (OPM) and Management and Budget (OMB) expressing concern about ongoing closures of federal agency buildings, leading to limited staffing and delays in responses to inquiries.
Republican and Democratic-leaning states have announced their reopening plans. This is a very positive sign that shows we are moving forward. As cities and states reopen, there will be a heightened demand for workers. The job market will heat up and hiring will boom.
