New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration reportedly engaged in a concerted monthslong effort to deliberately play down the number of COVID-19-related deaths among nursing home patients in the state.
Senior aides for the governor purposely sought to prevent New York state health officials, including Commissioner Howard Zucker, from releasing the true death toll, The New York Times reported on Wednesday, citing interviews and newly-unearthed documents.
As previously reported by Fox News, Cuomo’s administration was logging the location of nursing home residents COVID-19 deaths since at least April 2020, despite claims those numbers could not be verified for a report issued months later. According to a document obtained by Fox News, facilities were required to report the number of residents who died from COVID-19 daily.
The report can t say anything different because I didn t do anything wrong, Mr Cuomo said.
The governor has been accused of groping, kissing, and making unwanted sexual advances and comments toward women, some of whom were his staffers at the time of the incidents.
The press conference was the first public press conference Mr Cuomo has held in three months.
During the press briefing, the governor also downplayed the accusations against him, claiming the alleged victims just want attention. Mr Cuomo said he did not regret inviting women to the Executive Mansion.
“I have many women who were working state government. I’m very proud that we probably have more women in senior positions than ever before,” he said. “And I think that’s a good thing.”

POPULATION GROWTH EARNS NC ANOTHER CONGRESSIONAL SEAT: North Carolina will gain another seat in Congress for the next 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau announced Monday, the result of a steadily growing population as people arrive for jobs and retirement. The additional U.S. House seat, the 14th for North Carolina, marks the third time in the past four census cycles that the state will have increased the size of its congressional delegation. North Carolina received a 12th seat after the 1990 census and another after the 2000 release. The Census Bureau said North Carolina’s resident population was 10,439,388 as of April 1, 2020, up 9.5% from the 9,535,483 people counted as living in the state a decade earlier. North Carolina was the ninth largest state, up from 10th a decade ago.
