The attorney generals of the seven states have accused the OCC of overstepping its authority and preempting the state laws. They note that the “True Lending” rule will allow banking lenders to bypass state interest rates.
As per the recent filing on Tuesday, January 5, with the Southern District Court of New York, seven US states sued crypto-friendly banking regulator – the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) – and acting comptroller Brian Brooks.

Protesters are storming the U.S. Capitol which has forced the Senate to stop counting election results. Thousands of President Trump supporters are outside the Capitol and hundreds broke through the police barricades, scaling walls, climbing up the steps, breaking in and entering the building.
Guns were drawn on the House floors as police try to keep control. There are reports of shots fired and tear gas being used inside the Capitol. One woman was reportedly shot in the chest and is in critical condition.
U.S. health experts continue to raise alarm over the country s slow vaccine rollout. As of Tuesday morning, just 4.8 million vaccine doses had been administered across the country, out of a total 17 million doses distributed to administration sites, according to the CDC. CVS Health said Wednesday it s on pace to complete the first round of vaccinations at long-term care facilities by Jan. 25. The company also said a small number of vaccine doses could be made available at pharmacy locations in the coming weeks ahead of a broad rollout. Experts have recommended a number of changes to improve the pace of vaccinations, including broadening early eligibility and reducing stored capacity for second doses.

NEW YORK - The Manhattan District Attorney s Office has retained forensic accounting specialists to aid its criminal investigation of President Donald Trump and his business operations, as prosecutors ramp up their scrutiny of his company s real estate transactions, according to people familiar with the matter.
District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. opened the investigation in 2018 to examine alleged hush-money payments made to two women who, during Trump s first presidential campaign, claimed to have had affairs with him years earlier. The probe has since expanded, and now includes the Trump Organization s activities more broadly, said the people familiar with the matter. Vance s office has suggested in court filings that bank, tax and insurance fraud are areas of exploration.

DA Cyrus Vance Jr hired FTI Consulting, a financial consulting firm headquartered in Washington DC, to assist in reviewing Trump Organization documents, people familiar with the matter told the Washington Post.
Vance s probe, which began as an investigation into hush money payments to two women who claimed they had affairs with Trump, has reportedly widened into examining potential tax, loan and insurance fraud at the Trump Organization.
Trump has previously called Vance s probe a fishing expedition and a continuation of the witch hunt the greatest witch hunt in history, accusing the elected Democrat of partisan motives.
