Samantha Jones / Lovely County Citizen The Eureka Springs Community Center brought everyone together to celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 24. Featuring booths on bees, monarch butterflies and native plants, the event kicked off with a speech by community center board chairwoman Debbie Davis. Davis thanked everyone for attending the event, where the community center unveiled the Old School Park for the first time. Davis then welcomed Mayor Butch Berry to the stage to give the Earth Day proclamation.

Samantha Jones / Lovely County Citizen The Eureka Springs Community Center is celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, April 24. Scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the community center’s Earth Day Celebration also marks the opening of the Old School Park. The event starts at 11:05 a.m. with opening remarks from Mayor Butch Berry, followed by a performance by John Two-Hawks at 11:15 a.m. and playing in the soil at the Old School Park at 11:30 a.m. Community center activities director Cat Luna encouraged those who would like to participate in planting at the Old School Park to bring their own gloves.

Local News: Little Food Pantry offers free food, toiletries (4/6/21)

Tuesday, April 6, 2021 The Little Food Pantry at the Eureka Springs Community Center is stocked with nonperishable items including toiletries for anyone to take or add. With the help of Flint Street Fellowship, the Eureka Springs Community Center is feeding a need in the community. Community center activities director Cat Luna recently announced that the community center is working with Flint Street to keep the Little Food Pantry stocked at all times. The Little Food Pantry is an unmanned pantry where citizens can donate food to help others or take food they need, Luna said. Syama Barden created the pantry for an Eagle Scout project in 2018, asking citizens to take what they need and leave what they can.
