At the request of the Fenwick Island Police Department, the Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit on Friday, June 25, was investigating an early-morning shooting incident inside town limits that damaged a home and left a vehicle on fire, with two Maryland men in the custody of Ocean City, Md., police. The DSP reported that the incident occurred around 2:43 a.m. Friday, with a 911 call placed to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Sussex County reporting some suspicious activity outside a residence on West Atlantic Street. A Fenwick Island police officer responded to the house and observed a Jeep Wrangler on fire, police reported.

Fenwick prepares for predicted busy summer

Fenwick Island officials are busy getting ready for what looks like it could be a banner summer in the resort town. On Friday, April 23, Mayor Eugene Langan said at the councilâs regular monthly meeting that, in conversations he has had with area real estate professionals, he is learning that rentals in the town âare absolutely booked through the fall. âI have a feeling itâs going to be a busy, busy summer,â Langan said. The report mirrors recent comments from Bethany Beach officials, who are expecting heavy crowds this summer. Fenwick Island Town Manager Teresa Tieman told the council that, as of May 3, town employees will be working in the town hall again as a whole, for the first time in more than a year. Since last March, town staff have been rotating being in the office and working from home, to reduce potential exposures if someone were to be diagnosed with COVID-19.
