Twister on cable the other day. So obviously I just watched
Twister. I always do when it’s on and I always will. It’s one of the best natural disaster movies ever made. Even after all these years and countless viewings, seeing Jo and Bill caught in the middle of that F5 is still wildly entertaining. But that’s because it’s a movie. It would not be thrilling to watch real people caught up in one. It is really cool to see a near miss though, like in this footage captured by a drone lost to a tornado. Fortunately the person operating it got away. Barely.

The Philadelphia Eagles selected Memphis running back Kenneth Gainwell with the 150th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Kenneth Gainwell waited quite a while to hear his name called during the NFL Draft, but the former Memphis running back might have lucked out with where he ended up.
The Eagles selected Gainwell on Saturday in the fifth round with the 150th overall pick. While he was pegged by several draft pundits as a third-round prospect, Gainwell fell down the board after skipping last year’s college football season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At least 33 tornadoes were reported since Sunday as a series of severe storms moved through the South, according to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.
At least three people were killed two in Georgia and one in Tennessee as a result of the storms. According to poweroutage.us, nearly 20,000 people in Mississippi, 6,000 in Arkansas and 4,000 people in Alabama were still without power as of Thursday morning.
Mississippi saw the worst of the storms, with 22 tornadoes reported this week 18 on Sunday and four on Tuesday according to NWSSPC. Twelve Sunday tornadoes were confirmed, according to forecasters. The strongest tornado confirmed by the NWS occurred in Acona, Mississippi, on Sunday, measured as an EF-2.

PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) released an update on Thursday for its preliminary damage report for Sunday, May 2, and Tuesday, May 4. At this time, no fatalities have been reported from either weather event.
The following counties submitted official preliminary damage reports from the severe weather on May 4:
Hinds – 113 homes affected; 6 businesses affected
Leake – 21 homes affected; 9 businesses affected
Rankin – 7 homes affected
Warren – 6 homes affected
The National Weather Service (NWS) Jackson has confirmed three tornadoes in Mississippi on May 4.
Rankin County: EF-1 (90 mph)
Hinds County (Terry/Byram): EF-1 (105 mph)
Yazoo County (Yazoo City) EF-1 (110 mph)
