Members of the Estevan RCMP, Estevan Fire Rescue Service and Estevan Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to a collision at the junction of Highway 47 and the Highway 39 truck bypass at approximately 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. A westbound grain truck collided with a semi that was turning east onto the bypass from Highway 47. Officers received a call to do a welfare check on a child that may not have been supervised properly. Members attended and learned the child was able to unlock the door and get out while the parent was busy. The Ministry of Social Services was updated and made aware of the complaint. A traffic stop in central Estevan resulted in a 52-year-old Estevan man being arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamines and MDMA under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He was also charged under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act for having open alcohol in his vehicle. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on May 3 at 9:30 a.m.
