Researchers explore mutational signatures associated with exposure to microplastic pollutants According to the World Health Organization (WHO), plastic products and their chemical derivatives present in the environment present public health concerns on a global scale and more exploration on the potential impact to human health is needed. Researchers from Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey explored to what extent common components in microplastic pollutants cause DNA damage in human cells, which may leave complex mutational signatures in human cancers in organs that are at risk of relatively high level of environmental exposure. Subhajyoti De, PhD, researcher at Rutgers Cancer Institute and an associate professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, is the senior author of the work and shares more about the findings published in the March 2021 online version of

North Brunswick Library programs include dogwood painting, cooking demo, job search tips North Brunswick Library programs include dogwood painting, cooking demo, job search tips The North Brunswick Public Library announced its March 2021 virtual adult programs. A dogwood branch drawing class will be held at 7 p.m. March 1. This virtual drawing lesson will focus on contour lines. Participants will observe a dogwood flower and learn how to draw it petal by petal. Then participants will have the option to outline the drawing using a thin waterproof marker. To finalize the picture, add a touch of color using watercolors (optional). Supplies needed include pencils, thin black markers, heavyweight paper and watercolor.
