Nearly 2 million people in New Jersey have been fully vaccinated with more on track to get the shot soon, as Gov. Phil Murphy announced earlier this week that all New Jersey residents ages 16 and older will be eligible for the vaccine beginning April 19.
The latest eligibility expansion prefigured President Joe Biden’s announcement that all adults must be eligible for the vaccination in all states by April 19, almost two full weeks earlier than his original deadline of May 1.

In recent days, more coronavirus vaccine appointments have become available, particularly at the Atlantic County COVID-19 Vaccination mega-site, where hundreds of appointments were available at the start of the week.
The Atlantic County site is currently filling thousands of appointments on a daily basis at the Atlantic City Convention Center, according to a statement provided to NJ Advance Media.

TOMS RIVER, NJ Community Medical Center has banned visitors again as COVID-19 cases begin to rise significantly in the area.
The hospital announced the change in its visitor policy on its website. The policy change, which took effect on Monday, bars visitors in all but a few cases: special needs patients, minors, end-of-life situations and for maternity patients.
Community Medical Center is seeing an increase in COVID-19 patients. The hospital had 62 COVID-19 patients occupying beds for the week ending April 1, according to data supplied by the hospital to the federal Department of Health and Human Services.

Monday marked the first of two expansions this month of those who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Those in groups eligible for the vaccine starting Monday include transportation workers and several other groups who can now schedule shots, though appointments remain hard to get.

One year after the start of the pandemic, over 2.8 million New Jersey residents have received the coronavirus vaccine as the state continues a widespread rollout in which the demand for vaccine appointments still greatly outweighs the current supply of shots.
Teachers and daycare workers were recently added to the list of eligible vaccine recipients alongside healthcare professionals, first responders, people over the age of 65, and those with chronic health conditions.
