A new road just opened up in Ripon.
Garrison Way located west of Highway 99 and south of the Jack Tone Road interchange now extends past the Canal Street Grille restaurant to the soon-to-be-open Alpine Climbing Adventure Fitness gym at the Ripon Crossing shopping center, behind Boat Country, and connecting to South 99 Frontage Road.
Ripon High teachers Ann Pendleton and Rod Wright, who make up the online RHS Super Fan, happened along new road while driving around town on Tuesday.

Ripon drawing up corporation yard plans The City of Ripon is looking at constructing a 12,500-square-foot facility as Phase 1 of the proposed Public Works Maintenance Facility at the current CNG station on Doak Boulevard.
The City of Ripon is working towards developing a new corporation yard.
Plans are already moving towards doing just that with LDA Partners preparing Phase 1 of the master plan.
Eric Wohle of LDA Partners, for starters, noted at February’s Ripon City Council meeting that the existing facility lacks the space for staff, operations or maintenance, and “does not meet current building codes.”

They’re called mother-in-law quarters or granny flats.
To homebuilders and state lawmakers, they’re referred to as Accessory Dwelling Units or ADUs.
The Ripon Planning Commission last week gave the OK on the staff recommendations to the City Council, approving the chapter amendments to the ordinance on Accessory Dwelling Units, including eliminating the part on second-story ADUs while adding the verbiage for the placement of addresses to the backyard units.
The latter was not in the original proposal but was discussed with the Ripon Consolidated Fire District as a way to place the location of the Junior Accessory Dwelling Unit or ADU, according to Planning Director Ken Zuidervaart.

A Project Review meeting was held earlier this week at Ripon City Hall to review plans for the construction of both fast-food restaurants at the Jack Tone Crossing, 744 N. Jack Tone Road, in the area near Les Schwab Tires and Tractor Supply Co.
