How can that be a bad thing?
Regular readers of my columns (you both know who you are!) know undoubtedly that I’m a big fan of all things Mazda. I love their typically Japanese build quality; I mostly love the way Mazdas look â and most of all I love how Mazdas drive. While it appears that they’ve put their “Zoom-Zoom” marketing strategy to rest in recent times, it still applies to the feeling you get when driving one of their vehicles, whether the smallest or the largest in their stable.
And because of that I’m going to keep using “Zoom-Zoom” until they send me a cyst and decease notice.

Seven-seat family SUV gains new Touring SP and six-seat Asaki LE variants
An updated Mazda CX-8 line-up has been released, just two months after a similar upgrade for the larger Mazda CX-9.
Reflecting the CX-9 changes, the 2021 Mazda CX-8 will be bolstered by new Touring SP and top-shelf six-seat Asaki LE variants.
The former echoes the sporty black-look CX-9 GT SP, while the latter comes with a ‘Captain’s Seat’ second-row layout like the CX-9 Azami LE.
Together, they bring to 11 the number of variants within the 2021 Mazda CX-8 range, which brings mild price hikes across the range including $80 for the entry model, and continues to be available with both petrol and diesel engines and front- and all-wheel drive layouts.

Finally, the Perodua Ativa has been officially launched in Malaysia. Instead of the customary big event, Perodua unveiled the D55L SUV via a virtual launch this evening, finally confirming the Ativa name in the process. If you’re wondering, Ativa is Portuguese for active, which makes sense for an SUV.
Also announced were the official prices. The Ativa starts at
RM61,500 for the base X variant, going up to
RM66,100 for the mid H. The top AV is yours for
RM71,200, or
RM72,000 if you go for the full two-tone paint option (pearl white/red with black roof). These figures, which are on-the-road excluding insurance, are lower than the estimated price range of RM62,500 to RM73,400. Prices include sales tax exemption, which is in place until June 30.
The electric vehicle revolution is right around the corner as a slew of new models are on the horizon and an increasing number of brands are announcing plans to go EV-only.
While Tesla is often credited with pushing the world to embrace EVs, GM is an electric vehicle pioneer. The EV1 was decades ahead of its time and was followed by the Bolt in 2016.
The latter has been a modest success as the company has sold over 100,000 units globally and roughly 75% of buyers are first time GM customers. That’s nothing to sneeze at, but the Bolt is a hatchback and Americans won’t give up their crossovers until you pry them from their cold, dead hands.
