Surviving family members spoke for each other on Friday during the sentencing of a Hutchinson man convicted in the strangulation death of a young mother who was dumped unconscious in a Hutchinson alley last year and died days later.
Stacie Parker, the mother of murder victim Lora Beth Stratton, attempted to speak for one of her grandchildren during the hearing before Reno County District Judge Trish Rose, as the children looked on.
“I miss my mom,” Parker said, reading a statement for Stratton’s oldest son, Jessie, 11. “I wish I could talk to her. I want to say ‘I love you.’ I want her to say ‘I love you.’”
