Rochester School Board to vote on 2021-22 budget Monday night

WHECTV Created: May 10, 2021 02:46 PM ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)  The Rochester City School District Monday evening voted to approve the 2021-22 budget. The proposed budget stands at $986,100,909, an increase of $58,513,085 from the 2020-21 budget. The district says it got to the point where they weren t reliant on the COVID-19 stimulus money and it incorporated 96 recommendations from the state monitor and action plans. News10NBC had the chance to talk to Superintendent Lesli Myers-Small Monday. She said it s no secret Rochester has had its academic struggles, but this year s budget is balanced, educationally sound, and focused. News10NBC We have a very large students with disabilities population, a very high bilingual population, and other students who speak languages other than English so we really worked to place an emphasis and focus on addressing the needs that those groups have,  Myers-Small said.

School of the Arts evacuated for bomb threat Thursday

WHECTV Created: May 06, 2021 06:28 PM ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)  The School of the Arts in Rochester was evacuated Thursday for a bomb threat. Rochester City School District leaders told News10NBC they were made aware of the threat Thursday afternoon. A robocall went out to parents and students were dismissed early out of an abundance of caution. Rochester police brought in K9 units to investigate.
