LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said here Thursday that cleanliness is key to preventing epidemics and focused efforts are being made to keep the city clean and green.
The minister said there is no shortage of vaccine in Punjab. Pakistan has procured over 70% vaccine from its own resources and Punjab is also receiving Moderna, Astra Zenica and Pfizer vaccines.
Sinopharm and Sinovac are approved vaccines by global bodies and foreign office is talking to USA and Saudi Arabia on this issue. Speaking at the handing over ceremony of 6,000 containers of the Lahore Waste Management Company at Outfall Road, the minister said that cleanliness in Lahore was being specifically monitored on the chief ministerâs directions.
LWMC striving for sustainable waste management system

LAHORE : The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) is striving to provide citizens of Lahore a clean and sustainable waste management system.
Lahore, a city of more than 12,642,000 people generates more than 6,500 tonnes of waste on a daily basis, said a press release issued by the company here on Saturday. It said this waste is collected from all rural and urban areas, including from private housing societies. LWMC is responsible for lifting waste from all urban and rural areas. LWMC has established a waste management system through which waste is collected from containers and temporary collection points and then it is shifted to the Lakhodair Landfill Site. There are many dumping points where waste is being illegally dumped by the people, the statement claimed, adding LWMC’s vigilance department took action against such illegitimate activities i.e. illegal dumping, theft of containers, fuel or other assets
