Petro Union, CBN, UBN £2 5bn Case to Resume Tomorrow at S Court

Davidson Iriekpen The Supreme Court will tomorrow continue its hearing in the case involving the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Union Bank of Nigeria (UBN) and an oil and gas company – Petro Union Oil and Gas Limited (Petro Union) over an alleged £2.550billion fraud. The series of incidents upon which the case is based began in 1994 when Petro Union was alleged to have fraudulently procured a cheque from a branch of Barclays Bank in the UK with a value of £2.556 billion and presented it at one of Union Bank’s branches in Lagos, with a claim that it had a contract purportedly for the purpose of constructing two refineries, a fertilizer plant and a cement paper bag plant.

Police re-arraign female doctor over false rape allegations On By Onozure Dania The Police Wednesday re-arraigned a female medical doctor, Bolanle Aseyan, before a Lagos Federal High Court over rape allegation. The defendant is standing trial on a four-count charge bordering on false publication on rape allegation, preferred against her by the Police. The police prosecuting counsel, Emmanuel Eze, in a charge marked FHC/L/ 260c/2020, alleged that 25-year-old Doctor, committed the alleged offences between June 29 and August 14, 2020, at number 12A, Molade Okoya Thomas, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, Lagos. The medical director, who was first arraigned before Yaba Chief Magistrate Court, sometimes in November 2020, was alleged to have committed the offences while observing her internship at Federal Medical Center, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

Court Suspends Order of Interlocutory Injuctions on Seplat s Office Building

Seplat announces that the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos has today suspended the Order of Interlocutory Injunctions made by the Lagos Federal High Court that led to the sealing of Seplat’s Corporate Head Office situated in a building located at 16A Temple Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, a building which is not owned by Seplat. The Court suspended the Order, upholding Seplat’s application. On 2nd December 2020, the building in which Seplat’s Corporate Head Office is located was sealed in connection with a court case concerning an outstanding loan to Access Bank Plc by Cardinal Drilling Services Limited (“Cardinal Drilling”), a third-party providing drilling services to Seplat. Seplat is not a party to the loan agreement, security agreement or guarantees made by or on behalf of Cardinal Drilling to Access Bank Plc., and did not provide any commitments or guarantees in respect of Cardinal Drilling’s loan obligations to Access Bank Plc.
