New solar project proposed for regional town

Premium Content Subscriber only A regional town east of Toowoomba could soon have a new solar farm situated next to it, after plans were submitted with the Lockyer Valley Regional Council. Applicant Gatton Solar Farm Pty Ltd lodged plans late last year for a new 12-megawatt solar project on Adare and Goos Rd outside Gatton. According to the report by Precinct Urban Planning, the farm would be built in two stages over more than 19 hectares and include a 4.6MW inverter and a 4.5MW-hour battery. “The solar and battery farm is situated adjacent to a 33kV high voltage transmission line and is located 1.5 km from the Gatton substation and will be connected to high voltage transmission grid,” the report said.

Massive chunk of Lockyer Valley land with DA hits market

A massive chunk of vacant land with a development application attached on the edge of a Lockyer Valley town has hit the market. The 7.8 hectares of land on Eastern Dr in Gatton has been listed for sale by Colliers International Toowoomba through an expressions of interest campaign. The land currently has an approval for a 3000 sqm warehouse development through the Lockyer Valley Regional Council. In the online listing, lead agent Dan Dwan said the parcel was a prime piece of industrial land. “(This) prominent 7.81ha parcel offers outstanding exposure to the main road into Gatton and benefits from a current DA in place for a large industrial facility this one is not to be missed by developers,” he wrote.

Council to upgrade Gatton Cemetery facilities

Premium Content Subscriber only Gatton Cemetery will undergo upgrade works to “add value” to the way the community honour and reflect their loved ones. The Lockyer Valley Regional Council said improvement works have commenced which include a new brick columbarium wall as well as additional seating and blinds in the chapel. Mayor Tanya Milligan said the region’s cemeteries hold deep significance and these upgrades will enhance the way the community uses the facility. “The Gatton Cemetery plays an important role in bringing families together and theses upgrades will provide additional comfort during the burial and memorial process,” Cr Milligan said.
