Tim Scott and Lamar County residents for his use of a racial slur in a since-deleted April 30 Facebook post regarding Scott s rebuttal to President Joseph Biden s address to Congress, local representatives of the Lamar County, Texas Democratic Party are not accepting his resignation. To Sen. Tim Scott, the residents of Lamar County, especially our Black residents, and to my family and friends, I profoundly apologize for the racially insensitive remark I made towards Sen. Scott last week. I was wrong and I apologize, O Connor said in an email to The Paris News.
Freshman Republican Congressman Pat Fallon on Friday called for the resignation and censure of Lamar County Democrat Party chair Gary OâConnor after OâConnor used a racial slur in a Facebook post discussing Sen. Tim Scottâs rebuttal Wednesday to President Joseph Biden.
âI had hoped that Scott might show some common sense, but it seems clear he is little more than an oreo with no real principles,â OâConnor wrote in a since-deleted Facebook post.
Fallon described the post as âabhorrent, insulting and unforgivable.â
âBoth he and the entire Lamar County Democratic Party should be ashamed of this racist behavior. OâConnor must apologize and step down immediately. Additionally, I call on both the Democratic Party of Texas and the NAACP to condemn these words, and the state party should take swift action to censure him. This kind of behavior is not tolerable in Texas, the United States, or any political party,â Fallon said.

Over the last few days, we’ve seen racial attacks leveled against South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott from the ‘woke left’.
He was called an “Uncle Tom” and twitter even allowed “Uncle Tim” to trend.
The chairman of the Lamar County Democrat Party in Northeast Texas, Gary O’Connor, even referred to Sen. Scott as an “Oreo” on social media.
O’Connor, a white liberal, posted a link to a Washington Post article attacking Sen. Scott, writing “

Thereâs been a lot of good news in the Red River Valley lately. Some of the best, particularly for our local economy, is the success of the 14th annual Easton Southwest Shoot-out last weekend. More than 1,500 archers were registered for the event, which was a welcome return given its cancellation last year amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The tourism event surely provided a much needed boost to our local hotels and motels, which continue to struggle as travel has not yet reached pre-pandemic levels.
Speaking of tournaments, thumbs up to Mick Horton for his prize-winning catch of the day in Brannanâs Bass Shop Fishing Tournament. It was a beautiful day of fishing after a night of storms, and Hortonâs catch looked awful good in the winnerâs circle.
