2nd-degree murder charge laid in Lloydminster death A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the suspicious death of a man in Lloydminster, Alta. Lloydminster RCMP were called to the 5300 block of 50th Avenue to a report of a dead man on  the sidewalk on April 17, police said in a news release last Sunday. RCMP Major Crimes were called in to assist and took over the investigation.

Five arrested after home invasion

According to police, all refused medical attention and their injuries were minor. The victims reported five men had barged into the home and struck one of the men with a bottle before spraying the basement of the home with bear spray. At approximately 2 p.m., Lloydminster and Maidstone RCMP stopped a vehicle on Highway16 entering Lloydminster and performed what officers describe as a high-risk takedown that resulted in the arrest of four individuals without incident.  They appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court Monday. Charged are Matthew Meleshko, 24, and Catlin Thomas, 24, of Vermilion, Alta., Dakoda Foeller, 22, of Lloydminster, Sask. and Jason Johnson, 28, of Lloydminster, Alta. A fifth man, 21-year-old Austin Beckley of Unity was arrested and charged Monday.

Two accused of shooting inside Onion Lake home appear in court

Legal aide lawyer Andrew Lyster asked for a bail verification report for both Pahtayken and Okemow. Onion Lake RCMP responded to shots fired at a home at about 9:30 a.m. on April 10. The occupants inside the home escaped to a nearby residence and were unharmed. Police say the suspects fled Onion Lake, Sask., and headed towards the border city of Lloydminster. Alberta RCMP issued a media release warning the public that the two were at large and considered armed and dangerous. Edmonton Air Services and RCMP Canine Unit were deployed to help locate and arrest the suspects. They were arrested without incident near Kitscoty, Alta.
