Man charged in firebomb attack on Los Angeles police station

LOS ANGELES (AP) Prosecutors on Tuesday filed arson charges against a man suspected of throwing a firebomb at a Los Angeles police station over the weekend.
Police said Jonathon Rosin approached the Topanga station at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, lit a glass bottle containing a flammable liquid and threw it at the front window, where the bottle shattered and ignited.
The 24-year-old was chased down by officers and arrested, police said. No one was hurt in the weekend attack.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney s Office said Rosin faces charges including arson and use of destructive device and explosive. It wasn t immediately known if Rosin has an attorney.

VAN NUYS (CNS) - Criminal charges were filed today against a man accused of firebombing the Los Angeles Police Department s Topanga Station.
Jonathon Rosin, 24, of Canoga Park, pleaded not guilty to one felony count each of use of destructive device and explosive to injure/destroy and arson of an inhabited structure or property, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney s Office.
Rosin allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at the front window of the police station at 21501 Schoenborn St. about 12:55 a.m. Sunday.
The flames were quickly extinguished by a supervisor, and officers took Rosin into custody without incident at Canoga Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard, according to Los Angeles police, who noted that officers observed that he smelled like gasoline.

HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CNS) - A 22-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting a 79-year-old woman after breaking into her home in Hacienda Heights was arraigned yesterday.
Manuel Soto allegedly entered the woman s home in the 1300 block of Kwis Avenue through a window between 2-5 a.m. on May 2 and woke her from her sleep before physically and sexually assaulting her, according to Deputy Morgan Arteaga of the Sheriff s Information Bureau.
Soto fled the scene and the woman informed a family member who called 9-1-1.
The woman was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries, Arteaga said.
