Symmonds Announces Bid for Niagara County Legislature District 2

Jamie Symmonds, a lifelong Lewiston resident and entrepreneur, is seeking election to the Niagara County Legislature in the 2
nd District, comprised parts of Lewiston and Wheatfield. Symmonds, a registered Democrat, was recently endorsed by the Niagara County Democratic Committee and the WNY Working Families Party. Jamie’s community involvement over the past 15 years includes that of being a small business owner for ten years, volunteering for local events, fundraisers, festivals, and chairing local committees. She succeeded in creating and organizing the Lewiston Artisan Farmers Market, which has proven to be a huge success for the region over the past three years. Symmonds also believes her experience in local government, including serving on the Village of Lewiston Historic Preservation and Planning Board, as director of the Lewiston Advisory Board, and executive board member for the Lower Nia

PARK CITY, Kan. On Thursday evening the NAIA hosted a virtual National Championship Coaches Social. At the conclusion of the event, National Wrestling Coaches Association Executive Director Mike Moyer recognized the 11 finalists for the NAIA Men s National Coach of the Year and announced the winner as selected by his peers. The award is presented to the coach that has demonstrated outstanding effort throughout the season in developing and elevating their program on campus and in the community. The NWCA National Coach of the Year awards program is presented by Defense Soap, the official Hygiene partner of the NWCA.

Former South Laurel Lady Cardinal Sydnie Hall was named Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Year ahead of the MSC Tournament. Hall has averaged 10.2 PPG for 224 total points this season for the Blue Raiders. She ranks fifth in 3-point field goal percentage at 39.8 with the fourth most 3-point FG per game at 2.4 in the conference with 53 made 3-point field goals on the season. She adds 2.6 assists per game. The Lindsey Wilson women’s basketball team finished the regular season with an 18-4 overall record including a 13-4 mark in the MSC.

Law enforcement has been a major issue in our country. The Black community has experienced far too many deaths due to policy brutality and nonprofessional leaders of influence.
According to a September 2020 article from CBS.com, police have killed one hundred and sixty-four Black people in the beginning eight months of 2020.
In Palm Beach County, there are several organizations that joined together this past weekend at The Arts Garage in Delray Beach to have a conversation on implicit bias, defunding the police, and community policing.
