1 killed, 1 critically wounded during reported Sunday-afternoon robbery in Auburn

One person was killed, and another critically injured during a reported robbery in Auburn Sunday afternoon.
The shooting happened sometime after 4 p.m. at a home in the 300 block of White Street. According to police and the Lee County Coroner’s Office, officers were dispatched on a report of shots fire. They arrived to find two males suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims was taken to East Alabama Medical Center where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 5 p.m. The other victim was airlifted Columbus Piedmont Midtown Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation of the death of the 20-year-old Auburn student on January 9th indicates that he died from multiple blunt force internal injuries from an intentional act and has been ruled a suicide. The investigation is still ongoing. His name and where he was from will not be released by this office.

Auburn Death Investigation The Auburn Police received a 911 call about 3:55 PM Saturday afternoon for a medical call in the 200 block of North Gay Street at the Standard apartment complex. Upon arrival by police, Auburn Fire and EAMC EMS, they located a male subject on the sidewalk that had apparently fallen from a 6th floor balcony of the complex. The 20-year-old Auburn student was rushed by ambulance to East Alabama Medical Center emergency room with critical injuries.
