WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - There are calls for the faith-based community to help in spreading the word on getting vaccinated against COVID-19. On Monday, D.C. leaders announced they ll be launching a pilot program wherein churches will host vaccine clinics as a way to offer more access to minority communities and areas hardest hit by the virus.  The city will host the first clinics for pre-registered residents 65 and older in Wards 5,7 and 8 at Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church.

(FOX 5 DC) - Two patients have died after a temporary disruption in the oxygen supply to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a non-critical care unit at Doctors Community Hospital Center in Lanham earlier this month. A hospital spokesperson said in a statement shared with FOX 5 Thursday that on January 15, after the disruption, the hospital s team immediately deployed portable oxygen tanks to these patients. The statement goes on to say the following:  We quickly identified and corrected the issue – an oxygen valve had mistakenly been turned off during maintenance. This was an isolated event due to faulty valve labeling.

BOWIE, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Across our region and the world, some people still don’t trust the COVID-19 vaccine. Prince George’s County leaders say they’re seeing that reluctance. The county has the lowest vaccination rate in Maryland. Just 1.5 percent of the population has gotten at least their first shot. Compare that to 3.3 percent in Montgomery County and 4.6 percent in Frederick County.
