5 years before ethics charges were filed, groundwater commission was told of potential conflicts

Five years before five members of a Baton Rouge-area groundwater commission were charged with conflict-of-interest violations, an attorney for the commission warned of exactly the problem that led to the charges,  commission records show. According to the Louisiana Legislative Auditor s Office, auditors who examined the reliability of the data reported on the OPH’s COVID-19 Dashboard found that while the organization has processes in place to ensure data on the number of positive cases and deaths are not over-reported on the dashboard, it does not have a process to make sure the laboratories handling COVID-19 testing submit complete results or submit test results in a timely manner.
