Ledge Light Health District, which covers towns in the New London region, is looking for people who can help expand COVID-19 vaccine outreach. And they will pay you.

Our goal is to make sure that everybody who wants to get vaccinated is able to do so really easily, said Jennifer Muggeo, deputy director of the Ledge Light Health District (LLHD).
Community ambassadors will help the health district accomplish that goal, Muggeo said. They are looking for people who are friendly and like to talk, have strong ties to the New London and Groton communities, and people who are willing to help others understand more about the COVID-19 vaccines and where to get them.

As the state continues to make COVID-19 vaccinations easier to obtain for all eligible age groups statewide, local high schools are racing against the calendar to try to schedule clinics for two doses of the Pfizer vaccine for students age 16 and up before summer vacation.
Only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for emergency use for people aged 16 and 17, and school officials throughout the region are hoping to schedule first- and second-dose clinics the required three weeks apart before the school year ends.
Local health districts, which do not administer Pfizer vaccines, are helping to coordinate clinics with local health centers that are approved to use the Pfizer vaccine.
Groton Groton Town Councilor Aundré Bumgardner and City of Groton Mayor Keith Hedrick will again face off to see who will be the city s mayor for the next term this time in the city s general election on May 3.
Democratic nominee Bumgardner and Hedrick, the city s Democratic mayor for the past two terms who is making a write-in bid after losing the March Democratic primary to Bumgardner by five votes, both are seeking to lead the city. No Republican has entered the race.
The two candidates outlined their priorities for the city.
The post-COVID recovery, fiscal prudence and addressing climate change are Bumgardner s top priorities, while Hedrick named responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, economic development and continuing community policing.
