The world’s top climate scientists have told us we have a ten-year window to make rapid reductions in the carbon pollution causing global warming in order to hold the warming to the low end of under 3° F. Meanwhile, clean energy solutions have gotten less expensive, and in many markets, these solutions now cost less than fossil fuel alternatives. Focusing state and local action around climate solutions could open the road to “solve climate” over the next decade.
The Wisconsin Energy Institute is joining Center for Environmental Policy at Bard College in holding a simultaneous “global dialog” webinars around the world gathering experts together to offer concrete local actions to address climate change. The recording of this event can then be used by high school and college teachers across the state and country to #MakeClimateAClass and continue the conversation.
Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Barnes tours MTU in La Crosse, touts budget
A partnership between MTU and Xcel Energy was also highlighted during the tour

Barnes toured the MTU facility on La Crosse’s south side Thursday morning.
While there, the Lieutenant Governor discussed the support for expanding mass transportation in the state budget.
Barnes says the effort is about expanding opportunities across the state.
“You have people who don’t even want to deal with the hassle of owning a car. Two, you have people where vehicles are necessarily accessible or affordable. That is, that is where we have to fill in the gap,” said Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - La Crosse MTU and Xcel Energy are teaming up to provide electric buses for the city.
Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes visited the city s transit center on Isle La Plume on Thursday morning to express his support for the project. It s so important because people need to be connected. People need to be connected to work. People need to be connected to recreation and if we can provide folks with the opportunity to get from point A to point B without having to own a car, said Barnes.
