COMMISSIONERS UPDATED ON COUNTY’S VACCINATION RATE AT MEETING By Hometown2 May 12, 2021 | 11:44 AM At the Indiana County Commissioners Meeting Wednesday morning, the commissioners got an update on the latest Covid-19 statistics. Indiana County Emergency Management Director Tom Stutzman says the county still lags behind in the number of people fully vaccinated against Covid-19 compared to other counties. He did mention that along with the public clinics from IRMC and other groups, and the pharmacies that have been offering vaccinations, private doctors are beginning to receive vaccines as well, so those who were not comfortable with getting a vaccine at a clinic or pharmacy can do so at their doctors, but they are to check with their doctors for vaccine availability.

Maine CDC urges focus on tick prevention

Maine CDC urges focus on tick prevention Share AUGUSTA – The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention urges residents and visitors to focus on tick prevention during May, Lyme Disease Awareness Month. This year’s awareness month theme is “Stop. Check. Prevent.” The campaign asks people to stop frequently to check for ticks, since personal prevention measures are the best way to keep from getting a tickborne disease. Deer ticks in Maine can carry the germs that cause diseases including Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, babesiosis, and Borrelia miyamotoi disease. These ticks are most commonly found in wooded, leafy, and shrubby areas, putting most Mainers at risk every day. Anyone spending time outdoors should take steps to limit their exposure to ticks.
