GM s Lansing Delta Twp Assembly plant to resume production next week

General Motors Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant will resume operations Monday after a weeklong shutdown, the automaker said Thursday. The plant was idled this week amid a worldwide semiconductor shortage that has impacted the auto and computer industries. “GM’s supply chain organization has made strides working with our supply base to mitigate the near-term impacts of the semiconductor situation, including at Lansing Delta Township, GM said in a release. With that, LDT will be resuming normal production next Monday, April 19 after being down for one week. The plant, which produces the Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse, employs over 2,500 people.

The company will idle its plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee, for one week and Lansing Delta Township, Michigan, for two weeks. They re the lastest in the long list of North American auto plants going dark because of the ongoing chip shortage, causing temporary layoffs for workers and cutting into the supply of new vehicles.
