Like the nation as a whole, Michigan is seeing its economy rebound as the pandemic comes to an end. But substantial tax increases proposed by the Biden administration threaten to derail the recovery, hurting Michigan job creators and families.
President Joe Biden’s recent budget proposal includes $3.6 trillion in tax hikes. The administration claims that the tax increases will only hit big corporations and the rich, but the truth is workers and families will pay for the proposed tax increases through lost jobs and lower wages. This will impact thousands of small businesses.
Our region has become home to many rapidly growing high tech firms, some specializing in advanced and cutting-edge research. Increasing their tax burden could slow the growth of high-paying technology and research jobs that need to be a big part of our future.
