+ The Pokuase Interchange Project involved the construction of the 6.5-kilometre Awoshie to Pokuase road; an interchange at the intersection of ACP junction to Awoshie to Nsawam road; two (2) footbridges; the widening of the Nsawam road by some two (2) kilometres; drainage works; the provision of streetlights; and the construction of twelve (12) kilometres of town roads. It also involved the rehabilitation of the Kpobiman Women’s Group Centre to train women in pastry, bread, soap, and bread-making; the rehabilitation of the Manchie Gari Factory for the processing of cassava into gari and starch; the protection of the three (3)-hectare Gua Sacred Forest; and the provision of ICT labs for fourteen (14) basic schools, which will help train some ten thousand (10,000) basic school children within the Ga North, South, Central and West Municipalities, with knowledge in information and communications technology.
Veteran nationalist burial set for Umguza

THE family of the national hero Cde Abraham Nkiwane has said it is yet to come up with the burial date of the veteran nationalist.
They agreed that the liberation stalwart will be buried at his farm in Umguza district on the outskirts of Bulawayo.
Zanu PF Secretary of Administration Dr Obert Mpofu said Government and the party will respect Cde Nkiwane’s wish to be buried at his farm.
Traditionally, national heroes are interred at the national shrine in Harare.
Cde Nkiwane (93) succumbed to prostate cancer at the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) on Tuesday where he was admitted.

The teams who were welcomed by the communities provided information material on basic COVID-19 safety protocols and recommendations for vaccinations.

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka is mis-using quarantine regulations issued by British colonial rulers to combat disease to suppress protests by incarcerating citizens in quarantine, but street celebrations by ruling party allies were allowed in a selective implementation of the law, opposition legislators charged.
Women protestors were dragged violently away with their clothes torn in the process, a legisltor said.

“In the incident that happened yesterday, police arrested the protestors and produced them to the court and they were given bail,” opposition leader Sajith Premadasa told parliament.
“And without and PCR or antigen test, not even with a PHI officer checking them, the police, contravening all these rules and regulation, decides to quarantine them. That should have been done by a health official not the police”
