A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service Spokesperson told the Herald:
“The thoughts and sympathies of Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) are with the family and friends of a man who died following a fire in a house in Camphill Park, Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh.
“On Wednesday 28 April 2021 at 3.56am, Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in a house on Camphill Park, Newtownbutler. 2 Fire Appliances from Lisnaskea Fire Station and 1 from Enniskillen Fire Station attended the incident.
“A male casualty was rescued from the house by Firefighters, who then provided him with medical care. The casualty was taken to hospital for treatment, but tragically he died while in hospital.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in Newtownbutler. A PSNI spokesperson confirmed the incident and said: Police can confirm that a 74-year-old man has died following a fire at a property in the Camphill Park area of Newtownbutler on Wednesday, April 28. At this stage, the fire is not being treated as suspicious. On Wednesday at 3.56am, Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in a house on Camphill Park, Newtownbutler. Two Fire Appliances from Lisnaskea Fire Station and one from Enniskillen Fire Station attended the incident. A male casualty was rescued from the house by Firefighters, who then provided him with medical care. The casualty was taken to hospital for treatment, but tragically he died while in hospital.
Detective Inspector Handley said, “A multi-agency operation was involved in bringing the huge fire under control, which the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) declared a major incident.
“While the cause of the fire is under investigation, NIFRS believe the blaze may have been started deliberately.
“And we are now working to establish the circumstances.
“It is believed the fire may have started off the main walkway along the Bloody Bridge path, possibly late on Thursday night, 22 April 2021.
“We want to hear from anyone who was in the area, and who may have information which could help our investigation, to get in touch with us,” he continued.
Class B Drugs Worth Around £150,000 Discovered In South Belfast Police have discovered class B drugs with a street value of around £150,000 in south Belfast.
The drugs were uncovered during the search of a vehicle and a property on Tuesday evening, 27 April.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of committing drugs offences.
The 35 year old has been further arrested in connection with the seizure of class B controlled drugs with an estimated street value of £675,000 relating to a joint PSNI/Border Force operation earlier this year.
He has also been arrested on suspicion of possession of a number of false identity documents.
