With a stretch of pleasant (well, mid-January pleasant, anyway) conditions, the North Carolina Bird Atlas is seeking volunteers to help keep tabs of birds across the state. A combination of government agencies, non-profit organizations and universities is organizing spotters to help track the movements and habits of birds across the state.
This is no fly-by-night operation. It s a five-year project to record the distribution and abundance (or scarcity) of birds in our area. The project, the first of its kind in North Carolina, begins in March
