A number of roads are closed POLICE have reopened a road after a motorcyclist fell from his bike in Coulby Newham. Emergency services were at the scene of an incident near Tesco earlier today, which police said had involved a motorcycle. A man was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough after reportedly becoming unwell and falling from his bike. Police have confirmed the road is now reopen. A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.11am this morning to reports of a motorcyclist who was unwell having fallen from his bike.

Boy, 11, airlifted to hospital, after coming off bike

AN eleven-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after injuring his back coming off his bicycle. It happened shortly after 4pm on Sunday, on land near the A19 on the outskirts of Norton, near Stockton. The incident was attended by the North East Ambulance Service, Great North Air Ambulance Service and Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team. A spokesperson for the mountain rescue team said: Team members were called out from home and two team Land Rovers were also deployed. A Great North Air Ambulance Service helicopter was also sent and fortunately that crew soon reached the boy and subsequently transported him to hospital. The mountain rescue team would like to send him and his family their best wishes.

Man jumped into River Wear in Durham to evade arrest

A MAN was arrested after being rescued from a river where he jumped in a bid to evade police. Emergency services converged on the Framwelgate Waterside area of Durham to assist in bringing the heavily intoxicated man to safety from the River Wear. The incident took place in mid-afternoon, on Saturday, observed by scores of visitors to the city centre. Onlookers described seeing a heavily inebriated man in Silver Street, carrying a bottle of white rum, head butting the window of the former Marks and Spencer store. He then tried to steal a bicycle from a group of young men, before stumbling around the busy streets and smashing a glass bottle smashed it against a bin.
