NRL news 2021: Tom Dearden should not play for Brisbane again

By Peter Psaltis9 hours ago FShareTTweetQSMSWWhatsAppBEmailGJTumblrLLinkedIn9 hours ago Not many will like what I m about to suggest. One option for Walters is to bring back Anthony Milford and tell him he s on his last chance in the NRL. You never know how the off contract playmaker will respond. Another option is to get Albert Kelly into the team. Kelly has been playing good football for Souths Logan in the Intrust Super Cup and is getting better with every game he plays. In fact, why not throw Kelly and Milford into the halves?  The fact is, the Broncos need to try something different. They don t need to worry about Tom Dearden s development now, he s leaving. Time to experiment, time to find a way to turn the ship around.

NRL North Queensland Cowboys defeat Canberra Raiders

12:16 The North Queensland Cowboys have continued their hot form by making it three wins in a row following a 26-24 victory over the Canberra Raiders. Trailing by 18 points late in the first-half, momentum was with the Raiders before a costly knock-on from playmaker George Williams opened the gate for the Cowboys as Ben Condon cut the deficit to 12 at half-time. Condon s effort was the first of three unanswered tries for North Queensland, who kept the Raiders scoreless in the second 40 minutes to come out victorious at Queensland Country Bank Stadium. However, North Queensland s win wasn t without controversy after Justin O Neill crossed over for a try that could have been called offside, which levelled the scores at 24-all.

NRL 2021: North Queensland Cowboys, Anzac Round, Townsville s ties to Defence Force

With Townsville being the country s largest garrison town, the North Queensland Cowboys have an intrinsic and proud connection to the Australian Defence Force. The Australian Army even helped with building the club s first stadium before they entered the ARL competition in 1995. After being unable to host an Anzac Round match last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic - though they created their own Defence Round later in the season - the Cowboys feel privileged to do so on Saturday night when they face the Raiders at QCB Stadium. You look at the population of Townsville – around 200,000 – 13 percent either work directly for the Defence Force or have some sort of connection, whether that be through family or ex-military in the Defence Force, North Queensland CEO Jeff Reibel told NRL.com.

Premium Content Subscriber only The CQ Capras under-18s can lay claim to a proud boast, becoming the first team in the club’s history to finish on top of a QRL statewide competition ladder at the end of the regular season. Coach Kane Hardy said it was the resilience and hard work of the players that had been instrumental in their march to the Mal Meninga Cup semi-finals. The Capras were unbeaten in their six games in Pool B, piling on 244 points and conceding just 50 to finish on top of the ladder in the 15-team competition. They will take on the winners of Pool A, the Townsville Blackhawks, in what promises to be an epic semi showdown at 3.30pm Saturday in Brisbane.
