SIU warns Bandile Masuku that probe into illegal awarding of PPE tenders still on Share Johannesburg - The Special Investigative Unit has warned former Gauteng Health MEC Dr Bandile Masuku that its investigations into the irregular awarding of personal protective equipment (PPE) tenders would continue. The unit reacted on Sunday to comments made by Masuku on Saturday after he said the “SIU had effectively propped me as the proverbial poster boy of Covid-19 related corruption.“ Masuku was reacting to the decision by the ANC national disciplinary committee to overturn the Gauteng ANC’s decision to suspend his membership in the provincial executive committee.

SIU slams Masukuâs claims that they portrayed him as âposter boy of Covid-19-related corruptionâ Share Johannesburg - The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has lashed out at the former Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masukuâs claims that the law enforcement agency has dubbed him the poster boy of corruption. Masuku made the claims on Saturday, after the ANC national disciplinary committee (NDC) overturned the Gauteng ANCâs decision to suspend his membership in the provincial executive committee (PEC). He was suspended, along with presidential spokesperson Khusela Diko, hauled before the ANC provincial disciplinary committee, following reports of their alleged involvement in tender fraud related to the acquisition of personal protective equipment (PPE) by the Gauteng Health Department.

Masuku and presidential spokesperson Khusela Diko were this week cleared of any wrongdoing by the ANCâs national disciplinary committee (NDC). The two were suspended from participating in any party-related activities in October, pending the disciplinary processes. Masuku was fired by Makhura to bring stability in the department, following a report by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) into personal protective equipment (PPE) tender irregularities.
