Family members mourn the death of their relative NEW DELHI: More than 9,400 Covid protocol cremations took place in the municipal corporation-run 28 Covid-designated funeral centres in April the worst impacted period, so far, since the pandemic began. The cumulative data from the three civic bodies showed that, between April 1 and 30, the nine Covid-designated funeral centres under South Delhi Municipal Corporation oversaw 3,931 cremations and burials, while 14 centres under North Delhi Municipal Corporation witnessed 3,978 Covid funerals. During the same period, the east body recorded 1,523 Covid funerals, leading to a cumulative Covid funeral count to 9,432. Nigambodh Ghat under the north civic body and Punjabi Bagh Shamshan under SDMC had been the two busiest sites. In April, the official Covid fatality count in the health department’s Delhi state health bulletin increased from 11,036 on April 1 to 16,147 on April 30 an increase 5,111 bodies.

North Delhi Mayor Jai Prakash launched Goparali project for cremation New Delhi, Sun, 09 May 2021 NI Wire North Delhi, 9 May. Mayor, Shri Jai Prakash today launched the project of manufacturing Fuel Blocks from cultivation refuse (Parali) & cow dung (Goparali) for the purpose of cremation in lieu of  fuel wood at North DMC Cremation Ground Sector-26 Rohini Near Mahadev Chowk, Shahbad Dairy. Mayor Shri Jai Prakash said that now North Delhi Municipal Corporation will use Fuel Blocks manufactured from cultivation refuse (Parali) & cow dung (Goparali) for the purpose of cremation in lieu of fuel wood for cremation of dead bodies in lieu of wood in the crematoriums under the jurisdiction of North DMC. He said that approximately 300-400 kg goparali per day will be manufactured here.

URL copied Image Source : PTI Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia orders inquiry after 23 COVID patients go missing from Hindu Rao hospital Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has ordered an inquiry into the incident of 23 COVID-19 patients going missing from the North Delhi Municipal Corporation-run Hindu Rao Hospital, official sources said on Sunday. Sisodia has asked the health department to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit a report by Monday evening, they said. The corporation s mayor, Jai Prakash, had on Saturday said that at least 23 COVID-19 patients left the hospital between April 19 and May 6 without informing the medical facility. Sisodia said it is very shocking that a large number of COVID-19 patients have gone missing from the hospital, a source said.
