Apr 7, 2021 MARQUETTE -Northern Michigan University’s annual New Business Venture Competition will culminate with a virtual “The Big Pitch” event from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The competition is an opportunity for NMU students, either individually or in teams of up to five, to submit their plan for a new business and compete for cash prizes and business counseling services. The four finalists who will participate, along with their business ideas, are: Jimmy Flom: The Burger Boat, a floating restaurant that would be located on the highly trafficked Torch Lake Sandbar, serving burgers, brats, dogs and more to boaters who pass through.
