Stretch of A66 is closed as emergency services attend multi-vehicle collision

The A66 between Braithwaite and Bassenthwaite is closed, following the collision this morning (December 31). Emergency services are currently on the scene. Cumbria Police is asking road users to avoid the area while recovery work is carried out. The collision was first reported at 8.06am, and police have said it involved a number of vehicles . A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: We were called 08:15 to reports of a multi vehicle RTC. We’ve attended with one ambulance. There do not appear to be any serious injuries at this time, with one driver believed to have sustained minor injuries.
