RESCUE: Emergency services on the scene last night A MAN was rescued in Bolton last night after falling 20ft into the River Croal. Emergency services attended the scene in St Edmund Street in the town centre this morning, following reports of a man shouting for help. The man was found to have fallen around 20ft into the river below. He was rescued in a joint operation by police, the fire service and the ambulance service. He was subsequently taken to hospital. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: XT18 & Bolton Divisional patrols this morning attended St Edmund St following reports of a male shouting for help. Patrols found a male had fallen approx 20ft into the river Croal.
