The Government of Canada is committed to a renewed relationship with Indigenous peoples based on the recognition of rights, respect, cooperation and partnership. Building on this commitment, the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, the Honourable Bernadette Jordan, and the Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, the Honourable Carolyn Bennett, together with Chief Darcy Gray of the Listuguj Mi gmaq Government, announced today that they have agreed to a landmark plan to advance reconciliation in the fisheries.
The five-year renewable Rights Reconciliation Agreement on Fisheries addresses areas of mutual interest, and will help foster improved relationships with, and outcomes for, the Listuguj Mi gmaq community by:

The Government of Canada is rebuilding the nation-to-nation, Inuit–Crown and government-to-government relationship with Indigenous Peoples by supporting their right to self-determination. A key part of this work is the Nation Rebuilding Program.
Today, the Honourable Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Crown–Indigenous Relations, announced that Canada has provided over $1.5 million to four Indigenous groups in Quebec through the Nation Rebuilding Program. Minister Bennett met virtually with the Conseil Tribal Mamuitun to learn more about the work being undertaken in their nation and their unique priorities and needs. Funding for the fiscal year 2021-2021 will support the Conseil Tribal Mamuitun in continuing their work to foster communications within the Quebec Innu communities through their Aishkat innuat project. CENTREVILLE, Va., April 15, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Parsons Corporation (NYSE: PSN) announced today that the company s contract has been amended by 94 million CAD ($75 million USD) to manage new work at the Giant Mine in the Northwest Territories, Canada. As part of the amendment, Public Services and Procurement Canada, on behalf of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC), has extended Parsons contract to continue as the Main Construction Manager for remediation efforts of the former gold mine.
